Canapé Workshop

011 010 canapes Smoked haddock quails egg canape canape preperation canape party cateringA group of Kings Somborne Business Women joined us for a Canapé Workshop. Not only was this an excellent networking morning but we showed the women how to put together some fantastic canapés to wow their guests this Christmas. We demonstrated how to roll our Smoked trout roulade, decorate our handmade parmesan shortbread biscuits, fill our filo cups with an Asian style fillet of beef, along with making a Roquefort and artichoke gallette.  The ladies tried their hand at our take on an egg’s Benedict, as well as our very own goat’s cheese cheesecake with red onion marmalade. Medjool dates were stuffed and wrapped in smoked bacon and all were wowed by our soft boiled, smoked haddock, quails scotch egg.  After a frenzy of activity they were rewarded by being able to sit down and enjoy all their efforts !

Sandwich Buffet Delivery Service

sandwich platterHaving a meeting, entertaining clients, a party at home?  Why not try our sandwich buffet delivery service. As members of Hampshire Fare, our sandwiches are freshly prepared using bread lovingly baked by Burbidge’s Bakery of Andover.  We use a delicious selection of white, granary and wholemeal loaves and pack them with fillings like free range egg & Hampshire watercress, Oven roasted Greenfield pork with apple sauce and sage & onion stuffing,  free range chicken breast salad with Dijon mayonnaise or Cornish dressed crab & rocket – to name but just a few.  With your sandwiches, which are delivered in attractive sealed black platters, we provide individual kettle chips or walkers crisps, a varied selection of whole or prepared fruit and a delicious range of our homemade cakes.  A hearty lunch to fuel those brain cells, ready for the afternoon.  Leafuk.org and a hungry group of farmers enjoyed their lunch this week, next week it could be you.

We host our first Great British Bake Off Junior party

Great British Bake Off Junior PartyWe hosted our first ‘Great British Bake Off’ junior party this weekend. Eight girls aged 12-13 years reached our party final and enjoyed a challenging few hours of baking.  Just like the fabulous BBC series, the girls had to tackle a technical challenge – a soufflé, which was then judged and shared amongst the girls.  After a quick break it was onto their signature dish – they were all given pizza dough and a myriad of toppings and had to design and name their own pizzas. Finally their show stoppers were unveiled – they were each given a recipe card and ingredients and made a fabulous dessert to wow the judges. The scores were totted up whilst the girls decimated the desserts and then a team was crowned 2013 champion, receiving a cookery book and certificate.  All the girls went home with a booklet of all the recipes used during the day. It was a great way to while away 5 hours and the girls certainly seemed to enjoy themselves.  Please get in touch if you would like us to come and host a Junior or Senior Great British Bake Off party.

 

Christmas cake and pudding orders flood in

021We have begun taking Christmas cake and pudding orders this week.  Our Christmas cakes are deep, dark & rich; they
contain nuts and are fed with brandy.  You can either have them covered with marzipan and simple fondant icing or as seen be-jewelled with sumptuous dried fruits and nuts. Our traditional steamed Christmas puddings are packed with fruit and nuts and full of Christmas spirit and for this year as well as our traditional recipe we have a limited supply of our new Christmas pudding – tequila, cranberry & hazelnut.  They are beautifully wrapped and make a super gift, if you can bear to part with them. Both cakes and puddings come in various sizes and are made individually to your specifications so get in touch for more details.

chef for hire

Massaman Duck CurryWe offer a chef for hire service.. we come to your offices or home and prepare, cook, serve and clear a 2,3,4 or 5 course meal.  This week we made a regular visit to James Cowper LLP in Southampton and served a Massaman Duck curry.  This Thai curry contains coconut milk, crushed peanuts and has the typical Thai hot, sweet and sour flavours.
